Seasonal Worship Activities
Winter
December - February
We have a few traditions during the Advent/Christmas season. For example:
-
For decorating our Christmas tree, we use Chrismon Ornaments. They are white and gold ornaments that are centuries-old religious symbols. These ornaments provide a proper way of decorating the annual Christmas tree.
-
We participate in the community’s Tree Lighting celebration.
-
For Christmas Eve, we will light candles during the service.
-
We share in an intergenerational Christmas Pageant each year.
Spring
March - May
Lenten Services where part of our programming will be to invite community members to come into the church for a time of reflection. The maze, or labyrinth is used for reflection purposes.
Summer
June - August
Outdoor Worship
-
We enjoy worshipping several times outdoors during the summer. We congregate under the trees and enjoy the breezes as we listen to the music and story for the day.
Christmas in July
-
Members of the congregation wrap “presents” for Pastor Jeff to open, identify, and attempt to connect to the Christian message and witness. Along with the presents, we sing hymns that are typically sung in December before Christmas Day.
Fall
September - November
Blessing of Backpacks and Animals: An annual blessing is given to the backpacks as our children return to school and to our pets. We also annually celebrate Harvest Home and the blessings God gives us in our individual time, tithes and talents.
